Westward Ho!'s history is truly unique. Its name comes from the title of Charles Kingsley's novel 'Westward Ho!' published in 1855, set in nearby Bideford. The book was a hit, so entrepreneurs seized the opportunity to develop tourism in the area. This began 10 years after the novel was published and soon Westward Ho! became a hub for Victorian seaside holidays. Today, the village still brings a lot of happiness to visitors from all over the world.
The beautiful beach is easily accessible via a concrete ramp and the beach is fairly flat. Kids will love running over the two miles of sand and exploring rock pools.
