This much loved cottage is named after Mr Smiley one of our most cherished racehorses, this horse was much better at being cuddled than winning races but he was Kathy’s favourite. Elegantly styled with coastal touches, the cottage has two large double or twin bedrooms, one with a wet room. Smiley Cottage has been designed with families in mind and holds a four-star gold rating from Visit England. With a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area, there's plenty of space to cook a delicious family meal. Feel free to collect fresh eggs for your breakfast from our lovely free-range hens! In the lounge, two comfy sofas and an LCD TV offer the perfect setting for lazy mornings or evenings. Smiley Cottage is dog-friendly too, so your pet doesn't have to miss out on a luxury holiday.
Duckhaven Stud extends for 60 acres over rolling North Devon headland. Formerly a thoroughbred racing yard, many of our prize-winning horses can be seen grazing here. Our friendly farm animals would love to meet you! Visit our two bunnies, Mr Bubbles and Swirls, our delightful ducks and chickens and our cheeky goose called Blue.
Our farm is perfectly situated to explore North Devon, with the best of rural and coastal life easily accessible from the cottage. The pretty coastal village of Westward Ho! is just moments away, with two miles of golden sands, family-friendly cafes and restaurants to enjoy. Just 10 miles from Duckhaven Stud, The Milky Way is an award-winning wheelchair-friendly attraction. With indoor games and outdoor activities, this popular North Devon attraction is great in all weathers.
In 2018 our cottages at Westward Living won Gold for Best Self Catering in the Devon and South West Tourism Awards, in previous years, Smiley Cottage won a bronze award for accessible tourism in the South West Tourism Awards. The cottage has an optional ramp and shower chair.
