Smiley Cottage is a family friendly single storey cottage, offering a perfect base for your North Devon adventure. Surrounded by countryside and with spectacular views of the coast, the cottage is perfectly situated to enjoy everything the area has to offer.

Elegantly styled with coastal touches, the cottage has two large double or twin bedrooms, one with a wet room. Smiley Cottage has been designed with families in mind and holds a four-star gold rating from Visit England. With a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area, there's plenty of space to cook a delicious family meal. Feel free to collect fresh eggs for your breakfast from our lovely free-range hens! In the lounge, two comfy sofas and an LCD TV offer the perfect setting for lazy mornings or evenings. Smiley Cottage is dog-friendly too, so your pet doesn't have to miss out on a luxury holiday. 

Duckhaven Stud extends for 60 acres over rolling North Devon headland. Formerly a thoroughbred racing yard, many of our prize-winning horses can be seen grazing here. Our friendly farm animals would love to meet you! Visit our two bunnies, Mr Bubbles and Swirls, our delightful ducks and chickens and our cheeky goose called Blue. 

Our farm is perfectly situated to explore North Devon, with the best of rural and coastal life easily accessible from the cottage. If you're unable to walk very far, we would be happy to arrange buggy trips up to the spectacular coastal views. The pretty coastal village of Westward Ho! is just moments away, with two miles of golden sands, family-friendly cafes and restaurants to enjoy. Just 10 miles from Duckhaven Stud, The Milky Way is an award-winning wheelchair-friendly attraction. With indoor games and outdoor activities, this popular North Devon attraction is great in all weathers.

Smiley Cottage won a bronze award for accessible tourism in the South West Tourism Awards. A single storey cottage located on a stud farm in Westward Ho! 
120 square meters with outside patio area. 
Open plan Lounge / dining / kitchen area with two double bedrooms. Master bedroom with walk in wet room. Second bedroom with en suite.

 

Pre-Arrival

•      Cottage is located on a stud farm with a single track leading to front door

•      Space for unloading and loading is situated outside the front door. Parking of vehicle 35 meters from cottage

•      Guests are able to preorder shopping which the owners will unpack in preparation for arrival

•      Information is given to all guests prior to arrival on local suppliers

•      Cottage is 100 meters from Bideford Bus route no 16 which operates hourly, with connection to national bus and rail links

•      Cottage is easily accessible for taxi

•      Cottage is 12 miles from nearest train station Barnstaple

•      Owners will assist with carrying luggage on arrival and departure

 

Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking

•     Key collection is from the reception building during offices hours (Mon-Fri 9-5:30pm) For arrivals outside of office hours please call the office on 01237 238967 or 24-hour guest phone 07807 096997 to make suitable arrangements. For guests without phone please knock on door at main farm house “Duckhaven Stud” upon arrival.

•      Master bedroom en suite – large walk in wet room with shower and 2 chairs ( 1 fixed and 1 with wheels that are lockable ) equipped to M Plan ratings with grab rails and larger dimensions – please contact us for specific details.

You have really thought of everything. The wet room was great and we are very grateful for all the little touches. Mike and I loved the trip in the buggy to see the sunset - can't wait till next time!
