Surcoat Cottage

With a hot tub and private enclosed garden, Surcoat Cottage is a luxurious family retreat.

Surcoat Cottage is one of our most popular 3 person family cottages at Duckhaven Stud, just one mile from the seaside resort of Westward Ho!. Holding a four-star rating, this luxury cottage is a comfortable base for exploring North Devon. Upstairs, the double and single bedrooms are both adorned with Egyptian cotton bedding and bespoke complimentary toiletries. Downstairs, the spacious open-plan living area is ideal for spending quality family time cooking, dining and lounging together. For cosy evenings at your home-from-home, sink into the comfy sofas and enjoy the LCD flat-screen TV.

On a hot summer's day, the cottage's private garden offers an idyllic outdoor space. Fire up the barbecue and chill out on the sun loungers, or jump in the two-person hot tub.  Surcoat Cottage is just a five-minute walk from the South West Coast Path, stretching away along the North Devon coast past sandy beaches and secret coves. For a beach day, Westward Ho!'s golden sands are perfect and just a 20-minute walk or three-minute drive away. Don't forget your body boards, buckets and spades! If there are any budding surfers in the family, surfboard and wetsuit hire is available at the beach. The village is full of family-friendly cafes and restaurants.

Back at Duckhaven Stud, our friendly farm animals would love to meet you. Say hello to our resident racehorses, our lovely ducks and cheeky geese. Our 60-acre farm is the ideal place to reconnect with nature and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. In the morning, collect eggs from our free-range hens to cook a tasty breakfast. Our on-site play barn is great for indoor activities, too, with table football, table tennis, pool and basketball. We also have a heated indoor swimming pool for you to enjoy between April and September, great for cooler days when a dip in the Atlantic may be a little too bracing.

Surcoat Cottage is hugely popular among families with young children, mainly due to the private enclosed garden and hot tub. Stair gates and plug socket covers are available on request. We want you to feel totally relaxed from the moment you arrive at Duckhaven Stud, so enjoy a complimentary Devonshire cream tea as you settle in. If you need help with planning any aspect of your holiday or would be interested in adding any extras during your stay, we'd be happy to help.
