The Gallops

With a five-star gold rating, glorious garden and hot tub, Gallops Cottage offers a truly luxurious retreat.

Set within the grounds of Duckhaven Stud, the cottage sits where our champion horses once trained. Hosts Kathy and Chris designed Gallops Cottage to reflect the magic of Duckhaven Stud and the surrounding countryside. Look out over rolling hills towards the Atlantic for a spectacular sunset, reaching all the way to Lundy Island.

Gallops Cottage is a fabulous property for gatherings of family and friends. The wonderfully bright and open space is perfect for eight guests and two infants. There are four bedrooms, three of which are en suite, and each bed is adorned with Egyptian cotton bedding. Depending on your requirements, the rooms can be changed to twins or doubles. There is also a wet room.

Step outside into the secluded, private garden to enjoy the hot tub in any season. In the summer, the garden is perfect for lounging around in the sun, cooking lunch on the barbecue and spending quality time together. While in the winter, the hot tub is equally inviting, as are the authentic wood-burning stove and comfy sofas inside. The cottage's stunning open-plan design is ideal for large groups. Cook a family meal in the kitchen and dining area, or unwind on the large super sofa sofas or arm chair in front of the 50-inch TV.

If your beloved horse would like to join you on your luxury North Devon holiday, there's plenty of room for them in the private paddock. Our racehorses and friendly farm animals love roaming the 60 acres of grounds at Duckhaven Stud. Pop by and say hello to our ducks, chickens and bunnies as you wander through the grounds.

The South West Coast Path is just a five-minute walk away from Duckhaven Stud. Here, you can enjoy a 20-minute stroll over cliff tops to the beach at Westward Ho!. If you just can't wait to get to the beach, it's only a three-minute drive from the cottage. Bring your swimming costumes and body boards and dive into the sea on a hot summer's day, or hire a surfboard and wetsuit from the local surf school to ride the waves. Westward Ho! is full of outstanding restaurants to enjoy Italian, Moroccan, Thai and classic British cuisine. Alternatively, you can pick up plenty of fresh produce from the village to cook at home. If you don't fancy cooking, don't worry. We can also send our executive chef and his team to Gallops Cottage to cook a delicious menu, just for you.

We want you to feel completely relaxed on your visit to Duckhaven Stud. Enjoy a complimentary Devonshire cream tea when you arrive and if there's anything else we can do for you, just ask.
