The cottages are located within the grounds of an ex working thoroughbred racing yard which was called Duckhaven Stud. With the exception of Paddocks, Furlong and the Gallops, all our cottages are named after winning horses were trained and bred by Alan who lives in the main house.
Please do not approach the horses, as with all animals, when startled they can be dangerous. If you would like a personal tour of the horses during your stay, please let us know and Alan will be happy to introduce you to the residents and share his racing knowledge with you.
The horses have a monitored diet and it is very important that guests do not feed them, but they do love having their photos taken.
If you would like a personal tour of the horses during your stay please let us know and will be happy to introduce you to the residents!
A map of our grounds is located in each cottage to assist you during your stay. Guests are free to wander through the grounds as they wish, but please note that guests should not approach the horses, as with all animals, when surprised, they can be dangerous.
We have many glorious horses residing at Duckhaven including our resident champion winner Kala Fair and his faithful friend Chuckie the Shetland pony.
