After nearly 11 weeks of lockdown, many people are feeling the strain. No matter what your family circumstances are, at some point over this period of enforced confinement, there are bound to be tears of frustration, sadness and maybe a tear or two of joy.
Most of us have been softening the blow by focusing on how lucky we are. People living in larger houses are grateful that they are not in flats; those in flats count their blessings that they have a home at all. In Devon, we feel especially blessed, with the glorious coastline, azure skies and vast expanses of countryside within walking distance. But it’s a mixed blessing for us. As you know, we love sharing our surroundings with others; the very concept of Westward Living was built upon our love of our home and family, desire to share our home with other people and to provide our beloved family with opportunities and financial stability.
It has been heart-breaking to see all our beautiful self-catering holiday cottages remain empty for so long, especially as we have experienced the most incredible weather in April and May. However, we are hopefully now seeing a turn in the tide as social distancing measures are starting to relax which hopefully means we can welcome guests back for a Devon self-catering holiday soon.
The Government have confirmed that some hospitality businesses may be able to open on 4th July at the earliest, so we are hoping that it is followed up soon with some more factual info.
Westward Living Self Catering holiday cottages are set within 60 acres of private grounds overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, we are a perfect destination for families and friends looking to escape to a secluded part of the UK on the coast and also in the countryside. The great thing about self-catering is that you can hide away and not be disturbed during your stay with us. We will be conducting contactless stays when we reopen but guests will also have the reassurance that we are on the end of the guest phone. Owners Kathy and Chris live on site with their 3 children, 1 Labrador and 2 cheeky pugs so are on hand if you need them.
We miles and miles of stunning rugged coastal walks and glorious Devon beaches, you can really destress, relax and reboot here at Westward Living.
We would love to talk to you about our cottages and help you chose the one that is best for you, ask us about our flexible booking terms and how we can help you escape to the country and coast this summer.

Wow Kala’s cottage is amazing, peace and tranquility with amazing views. The cottage it’s self is beautiful, a sense of that home from home feeling
We got married here last year and returned this summer for our first anniversary. I can not justify in words how wonderful this place is.
We loved our stay, the cottage has stylish decor and furnishings and its right on the South West Coastal footpath with wonderful views, great for early morning and late evening walks to see the sunrise and sunset.
A totally relaxing and romantic stay, we loved the hot tub and views. It was so peaceful and perfect, just what we needed
