Where to eat

North Devon is notorious for excellent places to eat and drink, we are only a short distance from  Clearwater Brewery in Bideford and many seafood restaurants in Appledore, Instow and Westward Ho!

One of our personal, favourite places to eat out, is the Pig on the Beach  in Westward Ho! The food is amazing the, atmosphere is great and you will truly have a fabulous evening with sensational views across Westward Ho! beach and Bideford Bay. The bar and restaurant are open all year round and either a 25 minute walk from your cottage along the South West Coastal Footpath  or 5 mins in the car.

Ideally situated in the beautiful village of Abbotsham, just minutes off the A39 and a stones throw away from Abbotsham Cliffs, and Westward Living self catering holiday cottages. Its a great choice for a carvery and if your lucky enough to meet the Landlord Leslie Heard, he will have you in stitches with local yarns.Set within its own picturesque walled gardens, The Thatched Inn really is a fine example of how a country Inn should be.

Mariners - Bideford – 01237 476447 www.marinersbideford.com
Our favourite local restaurant tucked away at 4 Cooper Street in the old historic fishing town of Bideford, which is 3 miles from Westward Living. The best choice for a romantic evening. Please mention you’re a guest at Westward Living for priority reservations. The owners offer a complimentary drink for patrons who show their military ID cards. They will also create dishes for guests with special dietary requirements but do require a couple of days’ notice for this. Call to check opening times.

Take away/Deliveries

Atlantic Bay
Traditional seaside fish and chips in the centre of Westward Ho! less than 1 mile away from the cottages.

Hong Kong Diner – 01237 477661
Great Chinese restaurant and take away in the village on Nelson Road. Please ensure to tell them that you are in the cottages not the main house. The delivery address is Duckhaven Stud, Cornborough Road, Westward Ho! The drivers don’t know where all the cottages are so it’s advisable for them to call you when they arrive at the main entrance.

Groceries
If you are looking to stock up the cupboards today, then the two best places for us to recommend are the village of Westward Ho! which has pretty much everything you might need; including a great local butchers, two bakers, as well as Tesco, Co-op and a local Nisa village store. Alternatively, if you require a larger supermarket, ASDA is about 3 miles away, just off of the A39, and Morrison’s is located in Bideford, also about 3 miles away.
