North Devon Wake Park (9 miles)

Only 9 miles away and next to the Milky Way Adventure centre Located in the stunning landscape of North Devon and only 9 miles away from Westward Living Holiday cottages, North Devon Wake Park boasts the best of both worlds, whether you wish to try your hand at wake boarding or enjoy the fun inflatables at the aqua park, this place has it all. It doesn't matter if you have never wake boarded before, the team are on hand to make sure you have a cracking holiday experience. Kathy from Westward Living had her first lesson last summer and can give you some first hand tips for new learners! They are offering Free Wet Suit hire for all our guests.

Ilfracombe Aquarium

Ilfracombe Aquarium is an award-winning, all-weather, educational attraction located in the Old Lifeboat House alongside Ilfracombe’s picturesque and historic harbour. The town is found on the dramatic North Devon coast 20 minutes drive from Barnstaple, set amongst the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Lets Go!

Lets Go!  UK’s first state-of-the-art, eco-friendly skating rink glides into Barnstaple’s super new entertainment complex.

A state-of-the-art permanent skating rink, designed to a formula which has taken the skating world by storm, is at the heart of the new Lets Go! entertainment complex in Barnstaple.

The very latest technology has completely transformed the old Superbowl at Pottington, on the Braunton Road. You can come and play on our huge 4 level play frame. Southdown Adventures

North Devon Quads are the South Wests most exciting and friendly Quad Bike circuit.
We cater for all ages and abilities, boasting the longest track in the Southwest. 

All body armour and safety gear supplied as standard with top of the range racing helmets (with no additional rental fees) and quad bikes are maintained to the highest standard.

Exmoor Zoo

Exmoor Zoo is a special place that enables you to get up close and personal!  Opened in 1982  the zoo is now an ideal family venue, especially for the kids. The zoo is always changing so no repeat visit is ever the same.

Recent exhibits such as caracal, puma, maned wolves, tapir, sand cats and the famous "Exmoor Beast" can be seen amongst the unique and rare smaller animals for which the zoo provides "natural" enclosures. Exmoor Zoo is different, neither a wildlife park or a city zoo, but a more friendly and contact orientated zoo which has grown into the North Devon countryside. You get to meet the animals, join in the handling sessions, touch a snake, hold a spider, feed a wallaby and learn about the animals during talks and feed times.

Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park

Victoria Park, Bideford

Take time to stroll around this delightful park which was opened in 1912 to celebrate Queen Victoria's reign. The Park and flowerbeds are carefully tended throughout the seasons but are most spectacular in spring and summer. This is an ideal family park with something for all ages including a variety of recreational facilities, a children's play area, open-air paddling pool and skateboard park. While the children play you can plan the rest of your day in peaceful surroundings. This is an ideal opportunity to read through the leaflets you collected when you visited the Information Centre! The park has many historical features. The nine cannons surrounding the band stand are believed to have been captured from the Spaniards in the Armada, a tree was planted in 1944 to mark the good relations between Bideford residents and US Army personnel who were stationed in Bideford from 1940-1944. There are also rose beds dedicated to the late Princess Diana and a Millennium Time Capsule is buried near the park entrance. You can find out more details from the Information Centre or the Burton Art Gallery & Museum. While you're here you can call in for refreshments at the Burton Art Galley Restaurant which serves, coffee, lunches and teas. The main gallery has a lively programme of local and national touring exhibitions and craft work and is also now home to the new Bideford Museum.

Tarka Trail Cycle Hire

The Tarka Trail is named after Henry Williamson's tarka the Otter based on many locations along the Trail.  With up to 21 miles of level and traffic free riding on offer, a bike is the perfect way of exploring the area.

Appledore Quayside
