Westward Living Luxury holiday cottages in Westward Ho! we announced the winners of the Gold Award in the prestigious South West Tourism Awards held in Torquay on the 1st February 2018. The Self Catering Holiday Provider category was sponsored by Clockwork Marketing, the fabulous hand crafted trophy was presented to owners Chris and Kathy Murdoch by Managing Director Clare Bushby.
This year’s awards event was hosted by BBC news presenter Victoria Graham, with an inspiring opening address by travel journalist and Chair of Family Holiday Association Alison Rice, who outlined the work of the charity for which more than £4,300 was raised during the evening.
Entries into the Awards were 7% up on the year before, aided by the launch of new excellence workshops helping businesses reach new heights. Winners were spread across the whole region from the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall in the west to Bournemouth, Dorset and Wiltshire in the east, and from Devon in the south to Somerset, Bristol, Bath and Gloucestershire in the north.
Many finalists in the awards including Westward Living were also nominated to represent the region in the VisitEngland awards, the finalists for which will be announced in March.
All entrants in the South West underwent a rigorous short-listing process with 416 being visited by a team of 45 mystery shoppers. Owner Kathy Murdoch said, "What a fantastic way to celebrate our 10th year in business, Westward Living winning this incredible award means so much to us, at the moment our self catering holiday accommodation and wedding venue businesses Ocean Kave have reached the highest regional accolades possible. This is a testament to our continuous reinvestment, exceptionally high standards and dedicated team"
Wow Kala’s cottage is amazing, peace and tranquility with amazing views. The cottage it’s self is beautiful, a sense of that home from home feeling
We got married here last year and returned this summer for our first anniversary. I can not justify in words how wonderful this place is.
We loved our stay, the cottage has stylish decor and furnishings and its right on the South West Coastal footpath with wonderful views, great for early morning and late evening walks to see the sunrise and sunset.
A totally relaxing and romantic stay, we loved the hot tub and views. It was so peaceful and perfect, just what we needed
